John Adams, KGW Anchor/Reporter

John joined the KGW team in December 2023. He reports during the week and anchors KGW weekend evening newscasts.

PORTLAND, Ore. — John Adams joined the KGW team in December of 2023 as a reporter and weekend news anchor. 

He began his career in 2014 at KRBK-TV in Springfield, Missouri. He was promoted to an evening news anchor role in August of 2017. In his time at KRBK, John covered numerous presidential visits, national political campaigns, the COVID-19 pandemic and a Major League Baseball World Series. He also helped develop and launch numerous special segments and hosted community events. One of his favorite segments was ‘The Golden Apple Award,’ a monthly award of recognition given to a deserving teacher/educator in the Springfield area. John would travel with a camera crew to surprise and present the award at the winner’s school every month. He also hosted ‘Finest Fairways,’ a segment that would visit some of the best golf courses in the Ozarks. 

John attended Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. He graduated in 2014 with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Sociology. He interned in the broadcast booth with the Missouri State Bears Radio Network for home football games. He transferred to Missouri State after spending two years at St. Charles Community College in the St. Louis area, where he played outfield and pitched for the St. Charles Cougars Baseball Team in 2010 and 2011. 

John graduated from Parkview High School in Springfield, Missouri. He was a three-year member of the Varsity Baseball and Varsity Basketball teams. He was also part of the school’s Honors Program and Spanish club. 

On his days off, John enjoys working on his golf game. He also likes to read fiction and non-fiction books, and plays numerous musical instruments. His favorite book is ‘The Great Gatsby’ by F. Scott Fitzgerald. His favorite musical composer is John Williams.
