Police identify person killed in shooting outside Southeast Portland strip club

The shooting took place on Monday afternoon in the parking lot of The Venue Gentlemen's Club.

PORTLAND, Ore. — One person is dead and another injured after a shooting outside a strip club in Southeast Portland's Hazelwood neighborhood, according to the Portland Police Bureau (PPB).

Portland police identified the person killed as Morieo Camel-Harris, 35, on Tuesday. The Medical Examiner said Camel-Harris died from a gunshot wound. 

Around 5:35 p.m., April 1, PPB responded to reports of a shooting in the parking lot of The Venue Gentlemen's Club, located at 9950 Southeast Stark Street.

When officers arrived, they found one person with life-threatening injuries and another person dead at the scene. The injured person was taken to the hospital by ambulance. No suspect or suspects were found, according to police. 

PPB has not released further details on the circumstances of the shooting.

Detectives from the agency's homicide unit and criminalists from the Forensic Evidence Division are in the early stages of the investigation, PPB said. The agency said that traffic in the area could be impacted for several hours as investigators continue their work.

This marks the 22nd homicide in the city of Portland since 2024 began, according to KGW's data.
